How to Get the Gardener

The Gardener is a Secret support unit hidden as an easter egg in The House TD 2. The egg was solved by the community on August 15, 2026 and the solution is documented in the official Discord mod FAQ. This guide contains spoilers — stop reading if you want to find it yourself.

The full unlock path

1. Get 5 gardener’s hats. The hat drops from garden crates below wave 50 (crates are earned in The Gardens mode, one every 5 waves survived).
2. Equip the hat on 5 units. Any units — the hat is the only requirement.
3. Talk to the gardener in the lobby. With 5 units wearing his hat, a shop option appears in his dialogue: buy a shovel for 4,750 endless coins. (Endless coins are earned in endless mode.)
4. Equip the shovel on a unit and place it during an endless game. Recommended: put it on your weakest unit and place it far from the path, because the unit idles — it occasionally digs up loot instead of fighting.
5. Dig for the gardener urn. Digging has a small chance to drop the gardener urn, which unlocks the Gardener unit.

Tips

• The digging unit should not be one of your main damage dealers — it won’t be attacking much.
• The Gardener itself is a 0-DPS support unit (like Upgraded Debt Collector), so it is about the unlock and collection value, not combat power.
• Keep an eye on the official Discord for future easter eggs — developers asked whether to add a tracker for who solves each one first.
